Meeting Notes, October 21, 2009

Hey!
Thank you all so much for an awesome meeting last night! We established a lot of great ideas for next semester (listed below), and I am excited to bring these into fruition with you. For those of you who were unable to attend, please let us know if you have anything to add to the list- things you’d like to see Connect 4 accomplish as a whole or initiatives that you personally want to lead via our group. Please do this by the end of today, so that we can add it to the budget by tomorrow.
ALSO, a special thanks goes to Andreas and our newest member, Kyle Carpenter, for joining us last night and contributing such awesome ideas and initiative. If you don’t know Kyle, add him as a friend on FB and be sure to come to the next meeting to meet him.

Meeting Notes| October 21, 2009 Also on http://thelink.wustl.edu
1. Meeting time.
2. Racial Discrimination issue and response.
3. Soapbox Updates- EVENT MONDAY
4. Budget and Next Semester Programming

1. Meeting Time. The current meeting time (Wednesdays at 8pm) seems to conflict with a lot of people's exam schedules and other commitments. It's been proposed that we change it. Times suggested are  Sundays at 9pm or Thursdays at 8:30. De will send a simple Google Doc form to receive votes.
2. Racial Discrimination Issue. Town Hall will be hosted Monday, October 26th @ 8pm in LabSci 300. Make time to attend. For Connect 4, this is a "reactionary" event, and it has been proposed by our advisor, Naomi Daradar-Sigg, that we should use this as a means of producing PROACTIVE events- workshops, diversity trainings, etc.- next semester.
3. SOAPBOX MONDAY!    ***We still need someone to help lead this event, so if you are free during lunch hours on Monday and are interested, let us know ASAP.***
Here are updates:

A FACEBOOK event  has been created, so invite people to it. (Everyone has admin status to the Facebook FanPage, so please feel free to update the status or add any info to the wall. )Other student groups beyond WUFUSED have also been contacted to contribute to this Soapbox, and we are awaiting responses.
The comment box has been made.
The stage is $200, so we will still perform from the stairs platform.
The banner is still in creation-mode.
The post-Soapbox discussion will occur the following Monday, November 2 at 5pm in efforts to delve in more details about this issue in a small group setting.

Still needed:
Speakers from OUR group.
Confirmation of WUFUSED speakers.
Flyers, info, etc. from WUFUSED for the showcase table.

4. ***BUDGET- DUE FRIDAY*** Below are ideas for events and initiatives that we generated in efforts to produce a strong budget for our group next semester. All of the events/ideas do not require funding, and some may be nixed. Those that are in bold are those that we're committing to thus far- some do not require funding though. Some people signed up to lead specific initiatives, so their names are beside the event. If you would like to lead any others, let us know. If you would like to add to this list, please do so BEFORE FRIDAY.
